NATAN CVI HIRSCH BLUMGRUND
1825 - 1889
He was born in 1825 in Trenčín (not in 1836, as stated in the *Magyar rabbik* material). According to current findings, he was the son of Bér Blumgrund and the grandson of Mordechai Leib Wollner, a rabbi in Žabokreky.
In 1854, he married Maria Spitz (born 1833), the daughter of Markus and Terézia from Trenčín. She was the granddaughter of Jecheskel Löwy (1768–1838), who served as a rabbi first in Huncovce and later in Trenčín. In the late 1850s, he and his family were in Kežmarok, and by 1860, he is recorded as a rabbi in Bolešov. The following children were born from this marriage:
Johana (born 1859, still in Kežmarok), Jenny (born 1860, in Bolešov), Dov Ber Bernard (born 1862), Aron (1864–1866), Ezechiel (born 1865), Aron (born 1868), Teresia (born 1870), and Naftali (born 1872), who became a rabbi in Abony, Hungary.
In July 1889, Rabbi Blumgrund officiated at the wedding of his daughter Jenny; however, on August 11, 1889, he died suddenly at the age of just under 64—likely from a stroke. He was buried in the cemetery in Bolešov, where the grave of his son Bernát—who died in 1905—can also be found.
